Regardless of symptoms, those who test positive are advised to take specific precautions for at least 10 days.
How long does it take for COVID-19 symptoms to start showing after exposure to the virus?
People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.
When should you take Paxlovid?
Based on studies conducted so far, Paxlovid should be prescribed within five days of symptoms appearing for the best chance of success. Taking the pills within this window has been shown to lower the risk of severe illness or hospitalization by 89% among people most vulnerable to the worst effects of COVID-19.
How can I get Paxlovid?
Can anyone get a Paxlovid prescription? The FDA authorized Paxlovid for people ages 12 and older who weigh at least 88 pounds. But in order to qualify for a prescription, you must also have had a positive COVID-19 test result and be at high risk for developing severe COVID-19.
