Was Inglourious Basterds based on a true story?
Although Zoller, his story with Shosanna, and the movie Stolz der Nation (Nation's Pride) are fictional, Zoller was based on two real-life men: Austrian sniper Matthäus Hetzenauer and actor Audie Murphy.
Why is the title of Inglourious Basterds misspelled?
Tarantino didn't misspell the title to differentiate his film from the 1978 movie by the same name. He said it instead was a creative decision which he initially refused to explain, simply saying that “Basterds” was spelled as such because “that's just the way you say it”.
Why is Inglourious Basterds so good?
“Inglorious Basterds” is Tarantino's best. It juggles several stories perfectly, in a more polished manner than his previous movies, it infuses humor in a WW2 context, and it has a great cast with familiar and new faces (that would become household names later on).
What is meant by Inglourious Basterds?
Inglourious Basterds' title is inspired by Enzo G. Castellari's The Inglorious Bastards (1978), an Italian action/war film (or “macaroni combat” film) that follows a group of prisoners drafted into a special war mission in 1944 – and which is, in turn, a loose remake of The Dirty Dozen (1967).
