The biggest problem with “Mank” is that the film is boring. The film isn't compelling at all, and if you're not aware of the history behind the film it's even more boring. The film doesn't do a good job at teaching and informing the audience of the history.

As part of a Netflix article on the black-and-white palette of the film, production designer Burt explained that he had to balance getting the correct color but also not throwing the actors off balance: “Certain colors were not appropriate for many of the interior stage sets,” he says.

After testing, it was decided that Mank would be photographed using the new Red Helium Monochrome camera, which has a Super 35mm 8K sensor.
